Reality Rundown: Please Let These 2 Shows End Now

9/09/2009 Posted by Mel Got Served , , No comments

America's Best Dance Crew - This week the crews are assigned a dance craze to include- oh, and they also have to incorporate a trampoline. Sigh. So lame, so stupid. And these "dance crazes" are so unknown to me, but I guess maybe some know them- like the Ricky Bobby? I just don't care. Massive Monkees are the best crew, which isn't saying much as I still think they are sub-par. My brother thinks the Monkees and Afroborike will be final 2- we'll see. The bottom 2 are We Are Heroes and the sassy Vogue Evolution. After their dances, it's clear We Are Heroes killed it and finally fan-favorite Vogue Evolution is made to walk it out. And to think, we thought they'd win the whole thing. But I have to agree: while they had a great energy, a lot of their dancing was sloppy. Next week: final 4, which means closer to this show finally ending. (Image from MTV.com)

Big Brother - The nightmare continues. Natalie is HOH and decides to try and fool the house into thinking her and Kevin aren't aligned so plans to nominate him. Kevin is not pleased, and Jordan is still mourning the loss of Jeff. Natalie gets her HOH room and we see a picture of her infamous boyfriend, who looks way older. The HGs comment on this, but no one seems to bring up that he's much older than an "18 year old." Also, the HG play in a luxury competition for clothes- fast forward.

Onto the good stuff: Pandora's Box is back! Natalie receives a note saying that for the 1st time ever, a loved one is allowed in the house, but if she accepts, she can't play in the next POV competition. Natalie thinks to herself, "Screw Kevin," opens the door and is greeted by her boyfriend. Since they only have 5 minutes, he immediately gets down on one knee and proposes. Wahoo. Natalie is offered 15 more minutes with her b/f if she agrees to annoy the house, so of course she does. The remaining HGs are plagued by a giant baby, a little person dressed as a cat, and a giant bug. Natalie of course uses her time with her b/f to chat about life at home, and discuss how she'll need to lie about what happened. I'm sure her fiance is pleased. And does Natalie ever take a break from lying?

So after Pandora's Box, Natalie comes up with the worst lie ever, saying that there's a new twist called Final 2 Reversal and if she gets to the final 2, whatever votes are cast get swapped. It's maybe the worst lie ever, and they aren't buying it. Kevin eventually tells her it's BS and in no way would someone take Natalie to the finals knowing this, so she fesses up. But she has to be an a'hole so tells them "You got got by an 18 year old" and then tells them she got engaged, etc. But they think she's a liar! HA! Ever read Peter and the Wolf, Natalie? At nominations, Natalie continues her reign as an asshole by showing up in the HOH robe, crown, septar, and sunglasses. She looks like Flavor Flav. She nominates Kevin for strategy and Michelle for strictly personal reasons. I wish Pandora's Box magically evicted Natalie on the spot.

Tuesday episode: POV competition, live ceremony, live eviction and part 1 of the final HOH competition (there are 3 parts). This episode spends a lot of time with Natalie constantly saying she wants Michelle out, while Kevin considers his options. Hopefully he's telling the truth in the DR, cause he said he wants Natalie gone next. Let's skip all the filler and get to the important stuff: Kevin wins the POV and saves himself from eviction. Jordan is put up as the replacement nominee, and despite Michelle's speech (while wearing devil horns) that explains she'd lose in the final 2, Kevin evicts her.

The episode ends with Kevin, Natalie, and Jordan holding onto a key while walking on a rotating log in fake in climate weather; whoever wins this is one step closer to the finals. One week left, and I can't wait for this season to end. (Images from CBS.com & RealityDaze.com)

Reality Rundown: Pandora's Box... of Cash!

9/02/2009 Posted by Mel Got Served , , No comments
America's Best Dance Crew • Big Brother

America's Best Dance Crew - OK, ABDC... you've redeemed yourself (kinda). This week was definitely an improvement over the last 2. The challenge this week is to incorporate Bollywood moves, and the crews did some good stuff. Rhythm City might be my favorite routine, because I said if I were dancing I'd end the routine with a pose like Vishnu with arms all over, and they did! Crowd favorite, Vogue Evolution, danced well but we learned of their backstage drama. It appears the face of the group, Laomi the transgender, is having some diva movements and making her crew uneasy. The bottom 2 crews are Beat Ya Feet Kings (and if you're a regular reader you know my feelings about them) and We Are Heroes (who creep me out a bit). We Are Heroes really brings it this week- it was a high energy, well done routine, though I think pulling their bras out of their shirts was sort of a no-no in terms of Bollywood. Beat Ya Feet Kings are commended for having heart, but I still agree with last week's comments: stop watching Youtube and do something original. Luckily, my viewing is saved and Beat Ya Feet Kings are sent walkin' it out back to DC. (Image from MTV.com)

Big Brother - Or as I call it, The Jordan and Jeff Hour. But first! The HOH competition continues from last week and once Natalie sees Kevin taking the lead, she gives up and decides to slip and fall, lose her cup, and be a jackass. Have I mentioned I can't stand her? Kevin ends up winning the coveted HOH, leaving Natalie relieved for the 1st time in 3 weeks. Kevin gets his HOH room, but I fast forwarded. Michelle feels totally alone in the house and spends some time crying by herself- pretty depressing! Natalie is so anti-Michelle (just because Michelle got Chima out), and at this point it's annoying and sad, but Kevin is kinda thinking maybe it would be better to go back on his deal with Jeff. Jeff tells Kevin that when he used the veto last week, it nullified his final 4 deal with Michelle and he wants Michelle out too. Kevin is now plagued with the decision of eliminating a hated HG and being in the good graces, or actually playing the game. (Image from BuddyTV)

In other BB house stuff: Jeff usually likes brunettes, Jordan wants to live with her mom for a long time, and Natalie is terrified of bugs. Can next week's HOH be an endurance in a tub of spiders? Kevin decides to nominate Michelle and Jeff, hoping Jeff won't win POV, cause if Jeff sticks around, Kevin's in big trouble.

Mystery revealed! Behind the secret HOH door is: Pandora's Box. The HOH has the option to enter a room and release $10k to the house, so Kevin decides why not. He enters the room, puts his hand into a giant box, and suddenly his wrist is grabbed and locked in. Outside, it is Pacman Jones' greatest dream: money flying from the sky. It's pretty funny to see them grabbing all the cash while Kevin is locked away and seeing it on a TV monitor. Kevin gets a clue on the TV screen that there is a key in the house to unlock him, so he screams for Natalie and Jeff. Natalie tells Kevin sure thing and heads downstairs... to collect more money! Greed changes everything! Jeff ends up finding the key, but holds onto it for a bit (eventhough Kevin lied and said that in order to keep the cash, Kevin has to be unlocked). Kevin is finally released and is able to scoop up $600, while the others grabbed thousands. Is this really all the box brings? Seems like a dull twist.

The HGs get some pretty sweet spacesuits for a late night veto competition: the infamous face blends. Each screen will show 2 HGs faces mashed together, along with an alien; correctly identify the mash-up and best time wins the veto and an entertainment center. Judging by the photos, Jessie and Laura would create a huge headed, horse toothed alien, while Jeff and Jordan would have weird lopsided eyes. Natalie decides to make an effort for once, but alas, too late: Michelle wins the veto! Jeff becomes a jerk now that he knows he's out the door. Michelle tries to come to Jeff's aid, making an excellent point to Kevin that if Natalie gets to the end, Natalie will win for sure; Michelle shows Kevin that bringing her to the final 2 would be a better scenario for him. Michelle smartly uses the veto on herself and Jordan is deemed the replacement nominee, planning to make sure she is the one evicted this week, not her BFF Jeff. (Screencap from RealityDaze)

Reality Rundown: Offering a Sacrifice to Otev the Veto God

8/26/2009 Posted by Mel Got Served , , No comments
Big Brother • America's Best Dance Crew

Big Brother - Sunday's episode begins where Thursday left off, which is the "entralling" can-dropping into tubes HOH competition. Kevin and Jeff are the leaders, but when a penalty golden can is introduced into the game, Russell gives Kevin a 1 minute penalty and it allows to increase his lead and shortly after, Jeff gets 25 cans and wins HOH. The 2 with the lowest can count are this week's Have Nots and Michelle and Russell get to spend the week dining on slop, churros, and chitlins. As soon as Jeff gets HOH (along with some embarrassing childhood bowl-cut pictures), his paranoia/stupidity sets in again. He really thinks Russell wouldn't hold up the Final 4 deal and considers nominating Russell instead. Russell is flabbergasted at these accusations and admits to Jeff that at some point, yes he'd nominate Jeff, but not until the 4. Kevin and Natalie continue to try and work their magic, and offer Jeff a Final 4 deal too. What the show didn't show: Natalie and Kevin saying next week Jeff is their target. But Jeff and Jordan are gullible and start to take the bait. Other events: Jeff is the house gardener, Jordan hopes Jeff will take her to Hawaii but won't have sexy times there, no one gets what a neuroscientist does, everyone is too stupid to question how Natalie could win a Las Vegas tournament under the age of 21 (as she reminds us, she's 24 pretending to be 18), and Russell really hates losing at poker. The episode ends with Jeff nominating Kevin and Natalie, but he tells us viewers in the DR this is just a plan to make Russell feel safe and that Russell is in fact his main target. Sigh. Why don't they just hand the $500k to Natalie now. (Original image from CBS.com)

Post-nominations, Russell still isn't feeling to safe. He actually sees that nominating him is a strong move, but also dumb since they have a solid final 4. Jeff is doing a pretty crap job at hiding his feelings and is blowing Russell off. But Jeff is in a cranky mood all around, being pretty snippy to Jordan as well. It seems like Jeff too has gotten a case of douchebag-itis with the power of HOH. So the veto competition is kinda weird. There is a giant gorilla tiki god thing named Otev (which takes Jordan a few minutes to realize is "veto" spelt backwards); Otev is going to rap clues about the evicted HGs and then players need to run around the yard and find bananas with that HGs name; last to find the banana is eliminated. Good news is, the voice of Otev is evicted HG (and my pick to win) Casey the Banana Man! In the end, and after throwing a banana at Michelle, Jeff wins the veto. Kevin and Natalie again approach Jeff about a final 4 deal, saying they play straightforward and don't lie, and promise next week Jeff won't be nominated. Cue next scene: Natalie and Kevin in the kitchen saying next week they will definitely nominate Jeff- a-duuuuuh. At the veto ceremony, Jeff decides to use to veto to save Kevin. Russell is put up as a replacement nominee, not just because he's a strong competitor, but Jeff can't get past Russell voting to save Jessie the week Jeff saved Russell with the Coup D'Etat. Russell promises in the DR that there will be hell this week, so we'll have to wait until Thursday to see. While taking out Russ is a smart move, I guess I'm just PO'ed because I think Jeff is just handing this game to Natalie right now- have they considered jury votes at all (not just who wins competitions?) Dumb! (Screencap from RealityDaze.com)

America's Best Dance Crew - This season sucks. Don't take my word for it, take the judges. Shane Sparks outright says that no one seems to have it this season. This week all the crew's take on the martial arts challenging, having to do kung fu, etc. It's another awful challenge. I can't even say which crew was my favorite, because I didn't have one. While I like Vogue Evolution, they were sloppy this week, but I hope they stick around and win. All the crews were pretty bad. I still don't know how the Beat Ya Feet Kings avoid the bottom 2 each week because they're really bad. AfroBoriké might have been the worse- so dull, so lacking in energy. Ugh- there isn't much to say about this show. The bottom 2 are Rhythm City and and Southern Movement. I thought Southern Movement might have eeked a victory, but mainly because I was painting my nails while they both performed and not concentrating. I was wrong and Rhythm City lives to dance another week, which I'm glad because I liked this crew the 1st week. (Image from MTV.com)

Reality Rundown: Chima Later, Alligator

8/19/2009 Posted by Mel Got Served , , No comments
Big Brother • America's Best Dance Crew

Big Brother - Lydia, Natalie, and Chima are reeling in the "devastating loss" of Jessie from the house. So much so that they have a toast, cry about the good times- essentially it was like a wake and as if he died. It's pathetic and even their alliance-member Kevin is over it. He reminds us viewers via the DR that Jessie nominated Chima and Lydia for eviction, and once even voted to evict Lydia. What a great guy! Natalie, clearly delusional, tells us voters we made a mistake and can't understand why good people like them have to go. Sigh. In good news, Michelle is the new HOH, but most of the house consider Michelle a wildcard in the game. Michelle reveals to Jordan, Jeff, and Russell that her target this week is Chima and everyone is ecstastic to get out the dark cloud raining upon the BB fun. Chima is one huge diva: whining, complaining, and being a jerk to production. In complete show filler time, the house gets food for the week except for one day of slop, Jeff "proposes" to Jordan and Lydia has a stuffed magical boy unicorn named Dae Yum Yum. Michelle warns that her nominations are not going to be like, and boy is she correct: Michelle nominates Chima and Natalie for eviction, openly saying that Chima is a strong woman and her desired target. Next time: someone gets so out of control they are removed from the BB house. (Image from CBS.com)

Veto night- or is it?! Yes, it's the night we've been waiting for: the truth about what went down this Friday in the BB house is here. Post-nominations, Chima wants to quit the game and Kevin tells her to suck it up because if she leaves, they lose a vote in the jury, but she declares she won't let them have the satisfaction of evicting her from the house. The night before veto competitions, BB often assembles a practice game to give everyone a fair shot, so Kevin implores Chima to get out of bed and practice, so she obliges. Upon going outside, Chima is told by the voice of BB to put on her microphone; she responds by giving the finger. The viewers are then treated to a delightful montage showing Chima constantly being a pain in the ass, ignoring BB's instructions and threatening to throw a fit on TV to get CBS a fine with the FCC. Chima's alliance begs her to put on the mic, so Kevin retrieves the mic (it is a rule that you must be mic'ed at all times in the house). Chima takes the mic and throws it into the hot tub! Rut-roh! BB a short time later asks her to pick up a replacement mic, but she refuses to get up off the washer/dryer (omitted from the show: Chima, Lydia, and Natalie decided to hog the washer all night so Jeff couldn't do his laundry). Someone else brings Chima another mic, and she puts it on for a split second, and removes it again. Returning to her sacred bed, the voice of the show's producer, Allison Grodner, comes over the intercom and tells Chima to come to the Diary Room- Chima enters and leaves. Grodner then brings all the HGs to the living room and announces Chima has been ejected from the game for not following the rules. Everyone is in shock, and Natalie of course tries to blame this on Michelle, but for once Lydia makes sense and says it was Chima's choice and there was a twist in the game- get over it. (Screencap from HoneyNut on JokersUpdates)

The next day, Michelle retrieves a note from the DR saying since 1 of her nominees left, her HOH reign is over and a new HOH competition will happen. The competition is putt-putt, where you need to hit your ball into a windmill that has point value slots; highest from each round is eliminated and gets to pick a silver platter with a prize under it. Lydia is the 1st out (as usual) and picks the tray with HOH under it; she then spends the rest of the time downing Mimosas. Natalie wins a Hawaiian vacation and Russell gets a phone call from home, so trades his call for the vacation. Natalie beings bawling saying this phone call is the best thing to happen to her and thanks Russell. In my LOL moment of the night Russell says, "I didn't do this for you. I want the vacation." It comes down to Jeff and Jordan and Jeff asks Jordan what prize she wants and chooses HOH. Jeff throws the game and lets Jordan win. Jeff takes the vacation from Russell and gives him a Spa Treatment. Jordan takes HOH from Lydia and gives her... the annual BB unitard (this year, with a superhero theme). Lydia proceeds to be a drunken mess, calling Jordan a ho, screaming at everyone, and slurring her words. 2nd LOL moment: Michelle yells at Lydia, "Wear your unitard, bitch!" Lydia begs for them to vote her out, and Jeff lets her know that in no way will they grant her that wish- LOL again. Love these people. Jordan nominates Lydia and Natalie for eviction and the POV competition, ceremony, and eviction will all be live Thursday. Wow, talk about a long recap! (Screencap from Yzerman19 on JokersUpdates)

America's Best Dance Crew - More like America's Best Dance Snooze- am I right? I was warned by my family that this season stinks and the episode was boring, and perhaps I should have heeded said warning. I fast-forwarded a lot; sorry, but the crews don't have "it" this season. Moving on: this week was the Beyonce Challenge where each crew was given a Beyonce hit and a dance move from the video to master (like the Charleston, booty poppin', etc). I am all about Vogue Evolution featuring this transgender woman who is apparently an underground sensation- they were basically the only crew I liked. The bottom, voted by America, are Artistry in Motion and AfroBoriké. I was pretty surprised Artistry in Motion was in the bottom considering how crappy Beat Ya Feet Kings were last week and this week and should be gone. So the bottom 2 crews perform their numbers and both are impressive, especially AfroBoriké, who brought a very sexy routine out. Artistry in Motion, whose challenge was to incorporate a chain like the "Diva" video, were held back by the prop and despite a great routine are sent walkin' out... but not before they cry about inspiring America. Problem is, it couldn't have been that inspiring cause they got rid of you week 2. Sorry Artistry in Motion- I did like you! (Image from MTV.com)

Reality Rundown: What Died on JC Chasez's Head?

8/12/2009 Posted by Mel Got Served , , 1 comment

New! America's Best Dance Crew - It's the return of ABDC, or if you want to call it the full name RJPABDC (because for some reason producer/American Idol judge Randy Jackson has to declare it his own). Season 4 is back with a... slight pulse? There are no immediate stand-outs like Quest Crew or Beat Freaks from last season; more average crews. But before I recap, I'll share with you my favorites: b-boys Massive Monkees, "hick-hop"crew Southern Movement, Rhythm City, and Vogue experts Vogue Evolution. Now, let's summarize! The 9 crews have no specific task this week; they simply get to showcase what their crew does best and prove they deserve to be there. The usual judging panel is back with Shane Sparks rocking one fingerless glove, Lil' Mama (whose look I wasn't digging), and JC Chasez who has dyed his hair an unatural shade of black and with a hairline that looks like hair plugs. But frightening hair aside, ABDC has one of my favorite judging panels because they are very critical and all offer insightful opinions (there's no Paula Abdul here). Some crew routine thoughts. Beat Ya Feet Kings have a good backstory, but weren't impressive to me. AfroBorike, while great at their Latin dancing, had sub-par hip-hop moves. Massive Monkees were the first to really bring it and made remember why I liked this show, and Rhythm City was pretty flawless. Ladies crew Artistry in Motion were good, but not great; however, SYTYCD season 2 finalist Donyelle is in this crew, so that makes me happy. Since America can't vote this first week, the judges select the bottom 3 and those 3 have a dance battle and 1 crew is eliminated. Fr3sh, from New Jersey, doesn't want to be known as a "second rate Kaba Modern or SoReal Cru," but unfortunately their choreography is indeed second rate and lacking inventiveness and are the first walking it out of the ABDC arena. (Image from MTV.com)

Big Brother - In post-Ronnie BB house, most seem glad he's gone, but Jessie claims he'll "avenge" him. But now Chima is the HOH with all the power... but we know she's not! Jeff is busy keeping his power, deemed in the house as "the Wizard," secret (maybe not so well; on the feeds, I think everyone has figured out Jeff has it). But until Jeff overthrows Chima, everyone must fear her wrath, and by everyone, I mean Russell and Lydia. While Russell tries to kiss butt and apologize, it's too late. We also learn about Chima's troubling past, which is that she was raped by a serial killer but she was able to escape (the serial killer was later caught and executed). Yikes. Onto this week's Have/Have Not competition. The doorbell to the BB house rings and they open the door to: Jeremy Piven. I'll skip the "hug it out" jokes and get right into the competition, which is also a luxury comp. The winning team will get a screening in the BB house of his new film The Goods (and they will be the Haves this week). The competition makes little sense: each team needs to sell cars, and in order to sell the cars, they need to fill up the station wagons with a bug of crap in the backyard that has point values; highest points win. Oh and they also have to fit themselves in the car, which provides a lot of head-to-butt action. Jessie, Russell, Natalie, and Jordan win based on a giant 17 point teddy bear Jordan insisted on shoving in, so they are happy. Lydia, Jeff, Michelle, and Kevin are the Have Nots, which allows Lydia yet another reason to complain. Nomination time: Michelle fears she might have a chance of going on the block, while Russell knows it's a done deal that he's up. Chima decides to nominate Russell and Lydia, but we all know this doesn't matter much: Jeff has the real power this week, and Chima is going to shizz bricks when it happens. (Image from CBS.com)

On Tuesday's episode, Lydia and Russell are reeling from their nomination. Well, Lydia is reeling; Russell is taking it in stride, but angry and ready for a new alliance. He approaches Jeff (who we know could be Russell's savior this week) and offers to partner up with Jeff & Jordan. But even those not on the block are panicking, and by that I mean Jessie. The best part of this episode is seeing Jessie's cocky arrogance fade away in a matter of days into utter fear that he is going to be backdoored (definition: put up as the replacement nominee and evicted without having a chance to win the Power of Veto) by the wizard power. Knowing that only the HOH and the POV holder are safe from the wizard, Jessie is desperate to play in POV and figures either he'll get picked or someone would select him for player's choice. Color Jessie shocked when both nominees pull player's choice so Lydia selects her BFF Kevin and Russell picks Jeff. The POV competition was a lame duck (or chicken). Donning chicken suits, there is a large chicken wire fence with eggs on the other side and in order to win POV, you needed to get a dozen eggs over the fence successfully; it was eggs-hilarating to watch (complete lie: so boring). Kevin ends up winning the POV and Lydia is sure her Sugarbear will save him. Nope! Kevin wants to "respect the HOH's decision," avoid becoming a target, and claims this is to help them in the long haul. Lydia takes this as well as we'd expect: she pouts and whines a lot. Meanwhile, Jessie's paranoia continues, so much so that he even talks to Jeff and Jordan, hoping to sway them not to use the power if they have it, despite ignoring them for most of the time in the house (Jeff tells Jordan he'd like to see Jessie and Natalie on the block against each other). In the end, Kevin decides to not honor his friendship with Lydia and leaves her safety in the game in jeopardy. So the big question is: will Jeff use the Coup D'Etat Thursday to save Russell? And if so, how huge of a target with Jeff become? And will Chima break everything in plain sight as promise? (Image from BuddyTV)

Reality Rundown: When in Doubt, Waltz It Out

These posts are getting so long, I'm going to help you out. You can either read the whole thing or just skip to your favorite shows. In this Rundown...

I Love Money • American Idol • From G's to Gents •
America's Next Top Model • Make Me A Supermodel •
Survivor • America's Best Dance Crew

I Love Money - I forgot to post this in the Wednesday post! Craig Jackson officially becomes my 2nd favorite reality host after donning a t-shirt that says, "The Brown Jeff Probst." The new teams compete in a challenge this week which some kind of Gold Digger treasure hunt where they are tethered together (no one knows what "tethered" means, so Craig hilariously has to provide the definition that they'll be tied together). Green team, who I put my support to, lost pretty badly based on bad directions and team work. One issue I had is that there was one clue in all Spanish, but only one person speaks Spanish (Heat), so if it weren't for a lucky guess, the team with no Spanish speaker could've really lost. Gold team wins, with Prancer as the Paymaster and ultimately has to decide who goes home: her BFF Cali, Lingerie-clad Myammee, or worst-public-speaker-Milf. The snake that is Tailor Made starts creating an alliance that could overthrow the "Old Entertainer Alliance." Prancer's team urgers her to send home Cali, who I am not a fan of, but Prancer stands tall and votes off Milf, showing she's her own boss (not to mention Milf couldn't even come up with a good defense to stay). It was an OK episode, but nothing too exciting- meaning there was not enough Saapyhri, Entertainer and Buckwild for my liking. But it looks like the Old Entertainer Alliance could be crumbling fast, since Heat is nuts and untrusting of everyone. (images from Blog.VH1.com)

American Idol - 3 nights of Idol can be overload. By the time you read this, all 3 eps will have aired, but I'm blogging my opinions daily then giving you one big lump of Idol- enjoy! Tuesday the last group of12 finalists performed. They were better than the past 2 weeks, but most were so dull that I can't remember their names. I am routing for Nathaniel the headband kid (because his personality in ridiculous), guy who sang Plain White Tees, and Lil Rounds, who was awesome. The rest, just not memorable. But enough Alicia Keys already- 3 of the 6 girls sang her songs- yaaaaawn. Where's the fun stuff?

Wednesday is the result show. Lil Rounds moves on of course! Then the blind guy who has Garfunkel hair and the Spanish guy who again, I don't know his name make it through. What this season lacks for me are personalities. They can all sing well, but they are all quite dull. But now comes the 8 contestants competing for the remaining 3 wild card spots in Thursday's episode. Shocker, nutjob Tatiana gets picked and that's probably because the show is so boring and despite her annoyance, people remember her. Anoop and the hippie girl get picked which I am glad, as I both hoped they would move on. Some other people move on too but again, they made no impression on me whatsoever. (images from WiredForBooks.org and Jackbook.com)

Wild Card night. I'm watching it in ultra fast forward because I'm bored and much like the past week, bad song choices. I realize when some girl Jasmine sings that her mom is the amazing bitter woman from last week, so I'll pull for her for the mom. The annoyance that is Tatiana sings again. Simon points out that Tatiana sang "Savin' All My Love for You" 3 times and I have one word to say.... SERVED!!!!! You got served Tatiana!!! And even Paula called her out for her sudden development of an accent. Anoop should move in because I support anyone who performs Bobby Brown (even if the vocals were just so-so). Now we just need some Bel Biv Devoe for the post-New Edition trifecta. The end arrives and the last 3 finalists are selected: Jasmine (and her amazing mother!!!), Megan (my hippie girl and she was picked over Tatiana the drama queen who decided to have a mild meltdown), and then the last pick after the break and during the break... MY DVR CUTS. Idol ran over it's alloted hour which of course they'd do that because it's to punish those who don't watch live. Thanks to Google I can provide you the results. Wow, I feel so Seacresty-commercial break-esque. Anyways, some dude Matt gets picked. But wait, there will now be 13 finalists and number 13 is... Anoop! Hooray. The real competition starts next week- maybe they'll get a crash course in song selection before then. (original source image from blogs.pioneerlocal.com)

From G's to Gents - Everyone is over Macho, who cries to the G's that he really needs to be here, doesn't want the money, and would give it up at the end. Yeah right. The 'Gs learn, chivalry. The chivalry instructor kind of reminds me of Kenneth from 30 Rock in terms of looks. My big-word-speaking-DMX-sounding Fahim isn't grasping this stuff and opts for a beer and is drunk for the challenge. For the challenge, there are 2 teams and each team captain is going on a date and his team has to give him guidance; whoever is most chivalrous wins. Watching the G's practice classy dating with polite speaking and waltzing is pretty humorous. After swooning and impressing, All In forgets his date's name but covers well. Teddy has his date second and it's not too great at first- he tries to waltz with her, she gets all sexy so he has to push her off and teach her to waltz. Team Captain Fahim, who is drunk, has his date last and it goes as well as expected. His first impression is to sniff and whispers her she smells like fish (he defends he could have yelled in Fahim-style). Fahim's earpiece isn't working, so he takes it out and goes for it on his own. Macho decides to enter the date since he doesn't trust Fahim and takes charge- and this ruins this team's chance for sure. See you on the carpet, Macho! Teddy's team win because it was a real team effort. At a night out at a club, ugly weasel Protege uses his night at the club to get ladies' numbers- but at home as a girlfriend and fiance. Skeeze! The other G's don't take kindly to this because they know Protege is a fake and weasel and I know I can't stand this goober. Black ball ceremony! Fahim seems like the front-runner to go home since he threatened Protege with violence. Fahim calls Mr. Bentley "Big Ben" and I just hope he doesn't go home because he's quality TV. But with the "3 strikes your out" policy, Macho is finally gone... and cries like a teen girl with a broken heart- or like Jason the Bachelor. He is a sobbing mess and can't breath and it's so awesome that Jimmy Kimmel Live even aired it. Goodbye Macho! Next week: charity! (image from MTV.com)

America's Next Top Model - Cycle 12 begins, and if you flip 12 you get 21 so they go to Vegas for the semi-finals. Make sense? Ok, moving on! Everyone stays at Caesar's Palace and gets to wear cute little togas and walk a runway of clouds (fog machine) and pose like goddesses which I maintain were not actualy Greek goddesses (Goddess of Friendship!) There are definitely some very pretty girls, like some girl Fo who calls herself "Blaxican" and Tyra makes her define it because we really couldn't figure that one out, and this one girl who works at Bergdorf's who I think has a different look and could be a real model (she should've tried out for Make Me A Supermodel- see below). This one girl has huuuuge eyes and an interesting look, but when I see her I do yell "Spook!" London, a street preacher who loves the Phoebe Price headbands, is a dead ringer Silver from the new 90210 (well, not as cute as Silver, but still, twins!) I quickly route for a girl named Alex who is a white girl from the hood whose audition tape basically is just her explaining that she'll "come at a bitch" or something like that- and yes, she's out immediately and my heart breaks. 13 girls are picked to go to New York and still be in the running for ANTM. The house they move into is the same house from Making the Band, and I have fond memories of Dylan, Chopper, and Nes screaming at each other. Immediately, there's the House Bitch (Sandra, but let's call her the more fun name) who refuses to give up her bed and thinks she's the best one there. And this episode alone the "I'm not here to make friends" phrase has been said at least 9 times. At the first challenge, the girls walk a runway show and House Bitch stops about 1/4 of the way down the runway, poses and turns around- she interviews that she was the best. Best mistake maybe. Another girl who has burns all over her stomach and legs cries and complains because she has to wear a lot of clothes. Listen, I give her props for following her dreams and trying to be a role model, but this is where ANTM bothers me. They are no looking for a top model, they are looking for stories. She's not thin or fat, so she doesn't fit into either modeling niches, and let's be honest, most designers would probably pass on a model with a lot of scars. I'm not trying to be rude to this girl, I'm just stating what we know is a reality in the modeling world. Another girl has epilepsy and worries the strobe lights will set her off (and deep down you know the producers want this to happen). Later the girls do a photo shoot where they have to be good girls playing popular kids games like hula hoop, tag, etc. because Tyra needs to make a statement about a social issue of girls growing up fast, because Tyra thinks she's Oprah. No one is outstanding, but a few clunkers are there. In the end it comes down to House Bitch or the girl with epilepsy. Epilepsy girl, who was rather cute and looked like Kherington from So You Think You Can Dance, goes home after not understanding how to work with the camera and House Bitch remains another week to cause house drama. I continue watching Top Model for some reason eventhough it's the same personalities every season, yet loathe it. I think I must be a reality sadist. (image from tv.yahoo.com)

Make Me A Supermodel - Tyson's in, Nikki Taylor's out, and new mentor Nicole Trunfio in. As soon as the show starts, it's already more credible than Top Model. New judges include photographer Perue, fashion designer Catherine Malandrino, supermodel Jenny Shimizu, and model scout Marlon. The winner is represented by New York Model Management and gets a spread in Cosmopolitan (way better than Seventeen, Tyra!) These are beautiful people with some real talent. It's hard to pick favorites because as Zoolander would say, they're all (well most) really ridiculously good looking. I'll pick Sandhurst from Tobago who is a classically trained ballet dancer. First challenge is to pair up and pose in intimate poses in a clear box hanging in the sky. Salome, a Menonite who was raised close to Amish and keeps telling us that, performs the best on the shoot and wins the challenge and get to go on a Go See with a designer. A Go See is like a casting call and really important, which already shows this is the better model show, because they are trying to get everyone some work, not just the winner. The show then gets real and points out that these models' bodies will need improvement, be is losing or gaining weight, and get weighed and measured. Unlike America's Next Top Model which seems to sugarcoat this industry as accepting, this show really points out what a fashion model is. In the weekly tradition of the show, a catwalk challenge is done and then the bottom performers in both the photo shoot and catwalk are up for elimination, but this season they judge's decide rather than the viewers. Ken, some big guy with "classic good looks" but actually I thought he was kinda ugly, is sent home and can't be made into a supermodel. Already this show is 18 times better than Top Model. Survivor - Coach's annoying attitude continues and while he thinks he should be a leader, he'll take the backseat until the other leader gets voted out. Taj tells Stephen about her cross-tribe alliance and he's down with it. The plan this time around would be for Stephen and Sierra to go to Exile... but no one told Sierra the plan. Luckily, when sent to Exile, Sierra takes Taj and learns the plan and this could be a huge power play in the game- especially since Taj now knows where the Immunity Idol is. At Timbira, my favorite player Tyson uses his buff to make a loin cloth which is hilarious. At Jalapao, they get focused on more this week, so clearly they'll be heading to tribal. Old lady Sandy is annoyed and young model Sydney is flirty. So when it comes to Tribal Council, Sandy seems pretty confident she's staying but ala, Blindside! Sandy is gone! So 3 blindsides already this season- pretty awesome. Next week: the secret crosstribe alliance might not be so secret. (image from CBS.com)

America's Best Dance Crew - Finale! This episode was sort of drawn out and boring. The crews performed together for about 45 minutes and then the winner was announced. Quest Crew wins! And they cry! Men crying are having the best week ever. But I'm glad Quest Crew won because they really brought it last week and I'm sure Beat Freaks will get a lot of exposure from this too. Here's to the end of what was probably the best season of ABDC yet! (image from MTV.com)

Reality Rundown: Sous-Vide with Caution

The Biggest Loser - We ended last episode with the Black team winning the challenge and getting a 3lb advantage at the next weigh in. At the weigh-in, Blue weight in first and pulls some decent numbers- my ex-Purple girls pull double digits! But frightening-without-a-shirt Ron only did 5lbs again and I think his time should come to an end because he's injured and whines a lot. The Black team needs to get over 40lbs as a team to win the weigh-in, which they easily do. So Blue has to kick someone off and it comes down to Ron, who is injured and won't help the team win, or Dane because Ron claims Dane can lose the weight at home and has support. Stupid Aubrey doesn't want to make a decision so she votes for Kristen. Are you kidding me? She pulled 10lbs, you did 5! Man up and make a real vote! Bob's old team sticks together and Dane goes home and runs a marathon with his wife. I'm so over Ron and his son and while I understand old bonds are tight, Ron is dead weight and needs to go.

American Idol - If you thought last week was bad, well this week was worse. I can't even pick 3 who will make it. I'll give you who I knew would move on: 16 year old girl and Guyliner. The rest I just can't even comment because they were so bad. Nick/Norman's performance of that Dreamgirls song was pretty hilarious though (watch here)- especially when he yelled "Doogie!" at audience member, Neil Patrick Harris? The real highlight of the night? The girl who performed first's mother, who was the most bitter looking lady. Pay attention to the photo highlights below (in a handy slideshow!) When her daughter sings, it's pure joy. But they sat her in the second row the entire episode, which is right behind where the current singer's guests sit, and she is the most bitter looking woman the whole time. When the entire audience is giving a standing ovation, pay attention... she's still sitting down! This absolutely made my night and helped make up for an abysmal 2 hours of singing.

In case you were wondering, 16 year old, Guyliner, and the kid who sang "Man in the Mirror" (who we called Old Archuleta) moved. Old Archuleta was a maybe in my eyes, but I thought maybe hippie girl had a chance. Oh, well- another 12 to suffer through next week!

Top Chef - Finale part 2. Former Top Chef finalists that lost are the contestant's sous chefs. Richard Blais is back- who wants banana scallops? Marcel from Season 2 is back and I'm way over him. I get excited when Carla gets Casey from Season 3, because Casey was a great chef. Big mistake! Carla ends up letting Casey dictate too much of the menu and my poor Carla loses, and I almost cry. I think I was as upset as Carla who, if it weren't for 2 Casey-handed dishes, probably would've won. It comes down to Hosea, who didn't make dessert, and Stefan who did. But since Stefan's dessert was nothing great and Hosea had a better meal overall, he wins. BFD. Unless it was Carla, I didn't care. Hosea and Stefan's childish bickering was such an annoyance this season and they focused on it so much, I figured it would be them head-t0-head in the finale with Hosea "triumphing." But overall, another great season (even if Carla didn't win). Come back soon Top Chef!

Survivor - Remember when Coach wanted to only align with the strong and then voted off Candace? Well now he's just ready to pick off the annoyances. While Coach is annoying also, I will say up until last night, he was basically the only player's name I knew. My favorite player has to go to Tyson, who was deemed "assistant coach" and has declared that if tribes are ever shaken up he will demand to be called "Coach" also, not to mention saying he wanted to blindside another castaway because "She's wants to be here so bad" that he wants to crush her dreams. LOVE! One of the contestants sent to Exile returns to camp and finds the Immunity Idol hidden in the Tree Mail post- so this should be interesting. Who will he confide this information to? I'd say NO ONE! But maybe Taj, since they are creating a secret cross-tribe alliance that could pay off, if everyone can be trusted. Jalapao (Red team) is really bonding- they won blankets and pillows, have been catching fish, and are really working as a team and it shows: they win both the reward and immunity challenge, so Timbira (black) have to vote someone off. Poor Jerry is sick and trying to hide his true pain, but it's not enough. His tribe knows he's the weakest link and gets rid of him. So sad- another likable one leaves!

America's Best Dance Crew - Final 3 and wow, did 2 of the 3 bring it. Luckily, Fly Kicks are finally eliminated. Beat Freaks automatically advance to the Finals since they received the most votes and as usual, their routines are great. But Quest Crew came to win. They were phenomenal in both the "Hip Hop Decathalon" and their final original performance. I was blown away- so much that... I voted. Yes, one vote for Quest Crew. Last week I had said I'd be happy if either won, and I still would be, but I think after last night, while I love my Beat Freaks... Quest Crew deserves the win. Also, I'd like to give kudos to the stylish Lil' Mama who ditched her old Yankee caps and shiny track jackets for her new fashionable look- lookin' good Mama! JC- still wearing cardigans... Next week: the winner is announced!

Reality Rundown: Blindsides and Bad Eliminations

Welcome to what I hope will be a recurring post, my reality rundown. As you all know, I watch an extraordinary amount of TV and a large chunk of that is still reality. From the good to horrible, I seem to dabble in it all. So here's some thoughts on all the delightful reality I watched this week.

The Amazing Race - Welcome back Amazing Race! Apparently the logo was updated, but I didn't notice. I did notice the jazzier theme song. I still love the Amazing Race, but it has become a bit stale. It's the same partners every year, which is why I hope this season brings something a bit more. I love the brothers who are both stunt doubles, and the mother and deaf son are interesting, and a gay father and son make an interesting grouping. And luckily, the bickering dating couple, who down the line would become insufferable, went home first! The teams went to Switzerland and hilarious had to haul 50lb cheese wheels down a hill. I think my strategy would've been to let the cheese roll down the hill intentionally and then chased after them. What's great this season is Phil Keoghan, the host, is blogging about the show for Entertainment Weekly- I highly recommend. All the TV show host blogs are really insightful about the contestants, show, process, etc.

The Bachelor - This week was fantasy suite dates which is always a great week for the women to feel degraded on television (more specifically, the girl who gets sent home that week). Every week I watch this show, I grow to dislike the Bachelor, Jason, even more- he gets uglier and skeezier each week. And after a semi-pornographic make-out session with Jillian, aka Hot Dog Girl, he cuts her! And now that news has leaked about the "most shocking ending" to the Bachelor ever, I can confirm Jason seems more like a loser jerk than ever. I won't spoil, but it is kind of shocking and once the After the Final Rose airs, I think I can air my grievances, Festivus-style, against Jason.

I Love Money 2 - How I love this trashy program. I can not get enough Buckwild and Saaphyri, the best reality show BFFs out there. Who I don't want anymore is Leilene and Buddha- good news is, whiny Leilene went home. Leilene, a known crybaby on these shows, was there for love. Has she watched these shows? There is no love on VH1! Unless love can be cured with a little penicillin of course. Now if only they could get rid of the arrogant Buddha- he really just uses the women to get ahead and it's sick. Here's hoping Frank the Entertainer wins it all and gets out of his parents basement. And Heat- just go away. You can tell when someone is really hamming it up for the cameras, and Heat is just a famewhore.

American Idol - Finally it is the Top 36 which means everyone at this point can sing! Wait, no. What an awful episode of poor singing and crummy talent. I'm glad I DVR the show because a 2 hour episode of Idol can be completed in 20 minutes. Fast forward through half the song, skip the boring talk with the parents/family (time wasting!) Just a little bit of singing and the judges- it makes the watching of the show so much more tolerable, because clearly this could have been an hour and a half, but instead it was dragged to two hours. My choices to move on were Pink Haired Girl, Dead Wife Guy, and Anoop. Anoop was instead replaced with the Oil Driller or something. I knew the third pick would be a "personality" pick, I'm just surprised they picked such a dull one- I'm on your team Anoop! I am just glad Tatiana is gone for now because that girl is nuts- legitimately. I wouldn't be shocked if she made suicide threats last night after being eliminated. She didn't do a loud flip out when she was cut, rather one of those passive-aggressive shove-aways. I'm sure she'll get picked as a Wild Card for drama sake.

The Biggest Loser - What's crazy about this season compared to the past 2 seasons I watched is that for once, I am routing against every person on Jillian's team. Usually Jillian has the lovable underdogs- this season, they are whining, annoying, and just plain uninteresting. I could only tell you the name of one person on Jillian's team (loudmouth Aubrey in yellow). I am all for any of Bob's teams taking it all... except the Brown Team. Every week the NBC promos hype the "youngest contestant ever" and how "America's fallen in love" with him. Really?? Cause I sure haven't and until this past week, I couldn't even tell you the kids name. For the first 3 or 4 weeks they never even focused on this team. Next week the pairs are split into teams, the infamous black and blue. I think poor Bob is going to get stuck with a bunch of Jillian's a-holes. And please remind me that I need to try my Bob Harper's Yoga Blast DVD this weekend.

From G's to Gents - Of course I watch this! Fonzworth Bentley is as dapper as ever, and the G's as G-riffic. Luckily tonight eliminated Riff Raff who was maybe the spookiest looking person I've ever watched on television - and I watched Sister Patterson on I Love New York. Riff Raff didn't seem to want to change, he just wanted the money. This season has a lot more G's who want to change for the better.I'm routing for Blue, who is homeless and gave up his bed in a shelter for this. But I hope Faheem stays around for awhile because I do a really good impression of him.

Top Chef - Crazy Carla - clap clap clap clap clap! That has been my anthem since day one. I loved Carla's kooky personality and her Hootie-Hoo's, but I never thought she'd make it to the final 3. I hope Carla takes it all because, compared to the other cheftestants, her food is the only one I'd want to eat. Her food always looks so hearty and delicious- something the other contestants lack. And poor Fabio went home. Granted, his cooking actually has been weak quite often, but he had the best personality. I mostly wanted Stefan gone because I am tired of the contrived Stefan vs. Hosea rivalry (which seems more one-sided- get over it Hosea!) I'm really excited for next week's finale and hope that when the cheftestants cook their 3 best dishes that they can really bring it.

Survivor - Another blindside! That's two in a row for those counting- and the show has only been on two weeks! Coach, whose intitial strategy was to eliminate the weak, only caved in after six days and decided to get rid of someone he found annoying, yet was physically strong. During the first five minutes of the show a CBS local news bulletin scrolled the bottom of the screen, removing the high definition transmission temporarily. It's not until they go back and forth between standard and HD that you realize how phenomenal Survivor looks now that it's shot in HD. It really is breathtaking. And Taj, the lady from SWV (Sisters with Voices!) who is married to a Heisman winner really should've thought out a better story about her husband, rather than flat out say who he was. While Survivor is about being out in the wild and surviving, money is a huge factor for most. Sadly, her target got a lot bigger way to early; if only she could've kept in a secret longer than six days.

America's Best Dance Crew - First off, I need to express a gripe I have about this week. The theme this week on ABDC was Boys Vs. Girls. The first crew danced to a Chris Brown song and the last group danced to a Rihanna song. I find this extremely poor timing and in bad taste. This show is filmed live and recent, it's not like it's from three months ago. Someone at the show or MTV should have expressed how low this was. No, back to the show. It's down to the final four squads, three of which are great. For some reason, Fly Khicks are still around, despite America not voting for them three weeks in a row. I just find their routines predictable and unoriginal. What pushed me over the edge of dislike was a few episodes ago where they performed with a wind machine. Really?? If you don't want to be perceived as the "sexy ladies" crew, then stop with the wind machine and booty-poppin'. The crew sent home this week was Strikers All Stars, which was disappointing as they were strong competitors all season but had a down night. Clearly the final two will be Quest Crew and Beat Freaks. I'd be perfectly happy with either crew winning because they have both been consistently excellent, but I'm leaning towards Beat Freaks to win, especially after last week's performance that infused magic. But Dominic and Hok, I still love you- you know I'm a loyal So You Think You Can Dance fan!

Well my friends, that was indeed a long post of the Reality Rundown. See you next week to talk more, including why I still can't stand Jason from The Bachelor, who makes the ABDC Finals, and who gets pitchy on this week's Idol.
